Susan died Monday August 11 2008 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston NY of the effects of peritoneal cancer diagnosed one year earlier.  She was 66; she had just celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary. The photograph on the left was taken in her garden in Tillson NY 17 days before her death. An obituary appeared in the Sunday Freeman August 17 2008.

A gathering to celebrate her life and view her astonishing final art work was held September 6 in Kingston NY. A book of that work, a series of 48 self portraits relentlessly probing chemotherapy's devastating impact on the self, is available. See a sample.
